Consumer mains deliver power from the property’s point of attachment to the main switchboard. Single-phase mains are commonly used for residential buildings, while three-phase mains are typically used for larger commercial or industrial properties.
On the other hand, service mains connect the electrical network to individual properties via overhead or underground cables attached to the Point of Attachment.
They are both responsible for receiving and distributing electrical power from power lines to the service mains then consumer mains to the switchboard. They may need to be upgraded over time to avoid putting you at risk of a power outage or an electrical fire.
